    Ethical Considerations
The ethics approval policy for scientific journals ensures that research adheres to ethical guidelines and protects the well-being of participants. JArUMS follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to maintain participants’ trust in research and enhance the credibility of the findings.
Ethics approval is mandatory for research involving:
  • Human participants (surveys, interviews, clinical trials)
  • Animal subjects
  • Vulnerable populations (children, pregnant women, people with disabilities)
  • Collection of sensitive data (medical records, genetic information)
These considerations should be detailed in the Methods section of the manuscript. Consent must be obtained from all adult participants, and for children or dependents, consent must be obtained from their legal guardians. It is essential to indicate the source that confirms the ethical considerations of the study. When using laboratory animals such as mice or rats, relevant standard regulations must be followed.
  • The code of ethics in research must be stated for all human and animal studies (except review research).
  • The 16-digit clinical trial registration ID from the IRCT system must be indicated.
  • It should be mentioned that informed consent was obtained from all adult human participants and from the parents or legal guardians of children.
  • The text should state that the maintenance and care of experimental animals comply with National Institutes of Health guidelines for the humane use of laboratory animals.
