Peer review is the system used to evaluate the quality, validity, and relevance of scholarly research. After articles are submitted to the journal office, they are initially reviewed by the editorial board. Articles that do not fall within the journal’s scope or do not adhere to the journal’s guidelines are rejected at this stage. Selected articles are then sent to reviewers to assess the structure of the text and its compliance with the journal’s aims and scope.
Articles are reviewed in a double-blind manner, meaning that the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed during the review process. The Journal of Ardabil University of Medical Sciences aims to complete the peer review process within six to eight weeks. Each article is reviewed by up to three peer reviewers. The Editor-in-Chief evaluates the reviewers’ comments and addresses any significant discrepancies.
The reviewers’ comments and the editor’s decision—whether to accept, request minor or major revisions, or reject the article—are communicated to the authors. Feedback also includes technical requirements and structural issues of the manuscript. Authors must submit the revised version of the article, along with responses to the reviewers’ comments, within three weeks.
